Critically acclaimed as “Dynamic” (The New York Times), “Golden-toned” (San Francisco Chronicle), “Vocally stunning” (Broadway World), and “Honey-voiced” (DC Theater Scene), David Hughey continues to captivate audiences around the world with his powerful voice, magnetic stage presence, and emotional depth.

Most recently, Hughey starred as Joseph Jackson in MJ das Michael Jackson Musical in Hamburg, Germany, at the famed Stage Entertainment Theater an der Elbe. He made his Broadway debut in the Tony Award–winning revival of The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, and has since become a standout presence both on and off Broadway in hit shows like Waitress, Camelot, and the four time Tony award-winning smash hit, MJ The Musical. Hughey also originated the role of Paul in the world premiere of Grace The Musical at the historic Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C., earning critical praise for his heartfelt performance.
On screen, Hughey’s credits include FBI: Most Wanted (CBS), Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector (NBC), Powerbook III: Raising Kanan (STARZ), The Underground Railroad (Amazon), Live From Lincoln Center (PBS), and the Academy Award–winning film 12 Years a Slave.

With an established foundation in classical music, Hughey has also appeared with the San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and New York City Opera, as well as with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.
A graduate of both Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Manhattan School of Music, Hughey was awarded the Rodgers and Hammerstein Scholarship at the latter for his exceptional talent.
With an illustrious career that spans Broadway, television, film, and music, David Hughey continues to define himself as one of the most versatile entertainers in contemporary performance.
